Kiwanis Club of Damansara

President's Message

Michael Tan

President

My Fellow Kiwanians of the Damansara Club, I want to take this opportunity to wish all, many blessings as we approach the 2nd quarter of the calendar year 2021. We have so much to give thanks. Since April 2020, we gave support to almost 500 families in Kuala Lumpur including the Myanmar Refugee center, MUTU SOCIAL ORGANISATION (MSO), with items sponsored by Kuok Foundation and the public.

Many families with children are in despair, anxious and even lonely due to the separation during this COVID 19 period…we are thankful that we are able to keep their spirit high and alive by doing our bit to uplift their spirit. It is because all of us are compassionate, observant and above all, passionate in this calling that even in such challenging times we are all able to contribute our time and effort. Truly your compassion is shown and it is a testimony of your great commitment to the club, for that
I am truly humbled by the generosity spirit of the KC Damansara Club.

There is no doubt that this will go down in history as the KC Damansara Club – with a difference! We want to hold fast to our Slogan- Actions Not words, which much credit has to be given to our past immediate governor (IPG), Dr. Laurence Lim who believes in reaching out to serve and support the community. We all need each other now as this COVID pandemic is biting deeper into our spirit.

Not forgetting, we also want to recognize our members who work very hard during the COVID by delivering the much needed essential items to the afflicted communities. I must say, these humanitarian efforts would not be possible or accomplished without the support and contribution from these members, and for this I am truly grateful.

All of us here are our source of great moral support to our humanitarian effort. I feel I have formed a bond with all of you. Members are the greatest asset of KC Damansara, so let us not lose a single one because of the feeling of neglect, or should one become disillusioned, or due to financial strain brought on by COVID-19.

This fiscal year, we shall revive by putting together our best minds to realize our intent. We want to think of raising funds in innovative ways moving forward, engaging with the public more through digital, with the aim to improving the world one child and one community at a time.

I am honoured to serve as President of KC Damansara since 2020 and am pleased to serve for another year until 2022. Together with my fellow Kiwanians, we will continue to strive to fulfil the Kiwanis Motto “Serving the Children of Malaysia.

I am positive and I want all of us to stay strong and forge forward a stronger and resilient KC Damansara to meet our mission – Kids need Kiwanis.

And to our new members, welcome aboard. You have joined a community of kind-hearted, service-minded people, dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of the afflicted children and make a change in the community. We couldn’t be happier to have you as our new member of Kiwanis Club of Damansara.

To all KC Damansara club members, I thank you all for your commitment, your encouragement, your friendship; and your service to serve the afflicted and those in poverty.
